Sweet Pause by Cat Wilson

Sweet Pause by Cat Wilson

It is early morning, and as I get up I am feeling very grateful for the beauty of this day. The sun is just coming up. I can hear the sounds of the morning, including morning birds,  … doves, sweet chirping and a very sweet pause, a quiet stillness. This stillness has such peace, a feeling that only seems to come when the dawn is just breaking.
The sun is not totally up yet. There’s just a little glimmer of light that chases away one side of the evening. Outside the world is still dreaming a little. Slowly coming to attention. I am not totally up either. I, too, still have a sense of dreams and a reminder that I could … if I wanted .. slip back to bed and sleep another hour. Yet, I bask in this essence of the morning.
Inside my home, the many plants by the window appear to be listening for a signal of some kind. Almost like they are awaiting the conductor of the morning, who will raise his baton and suddenly begin orchestrating the entry of the day!  I sit here while the plants and I patiently wait for that signal, listening to this beautiful stillness that brings peace and joy to my mind and body.
My mind is laying the space for the people I will meet today. In this clear open space I lay a fresh physical layer of neurons in my brain, like a new layer of snow untouched by footprints. I feel appreciation of this new day with a simple happiness. I get to witness the morning symphony because I opened my eyes and quietly listened.
In your morning, make room for the spaces of quiet. Slide out of bed just a little earlier. Sit in front of the window and witness the dawn. Notice the light. Notice nature. Notice early sounds. You are here for a purpose. You deserve peace in your mind.
You are worthy of this sweet pause inside of you. Who knows what amazing insights and ideas you will get in this quiet space? Bring in the symphony of the morning peace and bask in the simplest of things to remind you.
