When you’re feeling the blah’s, your spirit needs buffing up. Go play!
Giving your self time to play breaks the monotony of the day. When you play your body releases chemicals called endorphins, and you find yourself laughing and feeling pleasure. Hormones are released instantly and your body runs on hormones on wonderful ways.
When you are having fun, your body will reward you by filling your reservoir with Oxytocin, Serotonin, Dopamine.
Oxytocin is referred to as a “love hormone”, and it is a beautiful neurotransmitter that helps you connect to others is a loving way.
Serotonin may be responsible for your mood. It also affects your ability to get a good night’s sleep as well as learning. When you play you gift yourself a booster that can lift depression, so you feel happier and less stressed.
Dopamine is what you get when you play, laughing and having a good time. It’s your own personal reward that increases the more you play. This beautiful hormone is one that will leave you feeling happy.

Play to Energize Your Day

How did you have fun as a kid?
Suggestions on how to play. Here are some simple ways you can play.

  1. Call a friend
  2. Take a walk in nature, i.e. in the forest, by the river
  3. Visit a toy store
  4. Grab a ball and shoot some baskets
  5. Watch a cartoon (i.e. Pink Panther)

The idea is to get out and do something fun. It will revive you and give you “mojo” to get the boring tasks done. Play will also fill your reservoir for creative projects.
